Thanks for this comparison. Have done both also and agree with everything said. However, I think both CLX and P90x are just as hard. They are different and one is longer than the other, but all the super heavy weights in CLX and with compound moves kicked my butt even more.

Both P90X and CE are great programs. If you purchase either, work hard, and eat a clean diet, you'll get results. P90X is probably harder than CE, but that certainly doesn't mean CE is not effective. P90 is a great starter program too. Wish I could help more, but its going to come down to personal preference. I did both of them, I like variety, so I finished one, and then did the other!

hi there, i have been doing a lot of research on p90x, and p90 and thought p90 might be better to start with and work my way to p90x. however ive also come across chalene extreme and im now confused once again where to start P90 or chalene extreme. i want to lose weight and tone, i am currently 84kg and 5 ft 3 not sure what that is in pounds but id say somewhere around 175-185. i do want the muscle definition and toning but need to get weight down for health reasons. also worried about loose skin on belly as its damaged from pregnancies which were some time ago now. i used to work out regularly but inconsistantly, i get bored. my body does adapt well to workouts and resistance training , i just dont want to scare myself off as my fitness and 15kg weight gain in the last two years since not working out has diminished. please help as i want to start something asap and im in australia so looking at 2-3 wks delivery. p90 or chalene extreme ??? thankyou :)

This was a great review. I am about 2 weeks away from finishing Insanity, my first Beachbody program. The Intensity...whew! But I like how I feel after Insanity workouts (and certainly like the results) but I don't think that I can maintain that intensity for another round when I'm done. I'm looking for my next routine to change it up a little. I've been back and forth between CE and TF but after reading the review (as well as TF reviews) I think I am going to go with CE. Thanks for the thorough reviews!

I just finished Insanity. Prior to that I did 2 rounds of P90X and a lot of self designed programs based off Rosstraining "Never Gymless". I wanted to try Chalean Extreme next and finally got it today. Between Insanity and now, I was mixing Insanity with P90X for a more complete workout. We watched a few CE workouts today to get a feel for what it was going to be like. Looks great for what I need. I need a workout that is shorter than P90X because my days are not always open enough to do another round. Then when finished with Chalean Extreme, I will have the extra workouts in my library to swap in when I need a shorter workout or just want to do one of them. I also like mixing all of the ab routines. This is a good program to maintain and mix in. Good review.

Heidi, I think the rotation sounds pretty interesting. Both programs are very good. Combining them seems to be a good idea too. Not to mention it still gives the "muscle confusion" effect by switching every 4 weeks. I say go for it, not to mention if the workout rotation motivates you, and you like it, then you can't go wrong! Let me know what you think, once you start!

How about a hybrid where you do P90x Weeks 1 - 4, then CLX Burn phase for month 2, then P90x Weeks 5 - 8, then CLX Push phase for month 4, then P90x Weeks 9 - 12, then CLX Lean phase for month 6, then P90x Week 13? I'm considering doing this to save time, but still get the intensity of P90x in. I also am a fan of variety.

I know I can't stick to the longer workouts in P90x for the full 90 days consecutively, but love the intensity and the results. I have already finished a round of CLX, and absolutely love it and obviously can stick with it. However after doing Week 1 - 4 of P90x I can actually do push ups on my toes now. Something I couldn't do during CLX.

So I figure if I do this type of hybrid, I'll be able to complete a P90x round and not miss the effective, fun workouts that I looked forward to doing in CLX and have another CLX round under my belt.

What do you think?

Hi Mandy, That depends, if you are happy with P90X, I'd do another round. If you are looking to change things up, try a round of Chalean. I think both are super programs! Here's a link to all of our Chalean programs, should you decide to go that route. http://www.extremely-fit.com/chalean-extreme/

Thanks for the review. I'm a couple weeks away from finishing my first round of p90x. I was wondering if I should go for another round or try something different like chalean.
