Glad to hear another Beginner giving it a shot. Keep it up Jamie. Yes it will be hard and you will think you cant do it. But if youre dedicated and refuse to give up even when your muscles are screaming at you to stop, I dont see anything that will hold you back. After 3 weeks or so, those brutal workouts are not so brutal anymore.....yeah they are still a beating but you find yourself getting stronger and lasting longer each day.

An update on myself. After a 2 week off period after redoing Insanity, it was time to start P90x and I was very disappointed in the Cardio side of it coming from Insanity so starting tomorrow which is the start of Phase 2 for me I will be switching gears to the Hybrid Insanity/P90x routine. I love the muscle building change of pace that P90x brings and its funny how slow paced other programs are after Insanity.....

My twin sister and I have just begun this - insane - program. We watched a few of the dvds before we actually started and much laughing was going on at the intensity of this workout (laughter due to how crazy these people seemed to be as even the in-shape people were dropping like flies near the end of the workout). However, my sister and I USED to be die-hard workout girls. Gym memberships and running were our old cup of tea. We have not worked out in quite a longggg time. I have a 4 month old and am looking to get back into my old body! (or as close as I can) I needed something that was fast-paced. I get bored quickly- and hate using weights and pull-up bars. I wanted something that was possible wherever I was.

We completed the fit test and day one. It took me back to old track interval days. Completely nuts and worth every ounce of pain.

I had to take many many breaks and was rather disappointed in how out of shape I have let myself get. I was in no other workout program before this, and am determined to get through this workout. I do agree that it is not for everyone. If you are one of those people who watch tv while running on the treadmill, or not ready to breathe hard, have your muscles freeze up on you and somehow manage to keep pushing out whatever your body can do- this is definately not for you. However, if you know that you can keep going when you don't think you can- I believe beginners can do it- because I'm going to do it, no matter how hard it gets. But I also understand my body is going to be pushed where it hasn't been pushed since track season over 10 years ago!

But I guess we will see- today's workout lies ahead. Both EEK and BRING IT ON!

Going to agree with Robert on the Insanity NOT for beginners. It a tough workout, I couldn't even make it through the warm up. So I'm going to start with something more mild. Love the packaging and looking forward to trying it again at a later date. For now its back to rocking body or hip hip abs (love shaun t) for me! For all you beginners that attempt Insanity and succeed...you rock!

I haven't lost much, maybe 5 lbs (OK, I don't look like I weigh 150..so loosing 20 lbs is just a benchmark but I carry most all of my excess weight in my thighs), but have leaned out my legs a lot dropping a jeans size and have lost most of my gut. I had a 3 week recovery week (terrible cold) and have 1 week left in month 2. But I have a hopefully minor case of jumper's knee and am taking a few days off to ice it and such. So I haven't been doing the program in the ideal manner. My first month was pretty clean eating wise, then I was sick and lost a lot of strength due to lack of appetite. Month 2 has been harder on the eating front (damn you holidays!) but am avoiding the big temptations so far :)

Well to update everyone. I just finished Insanity Earlier this week. I couldnt be happier with the results. I lost 30lbs and several inches across my body and 2 pants sizes. I havent been in this kind of shape since I highschool and that was 15 years ago. I still have another 15 pounds to reach my goal weight so I am redoing the last month before starting P90x. My goal was to lose 45 lbs and to be 2/3 there in 2 months is outstanding seeing that I got stronger along the way! As stated above I started from no workout regiment at all. It was a shock to my system to say the least. Breaking my eating habits though was the hardest part. Once you get into the habit of eating better the results will take care of themselves. I started seeing a difference in the mirror in the first few weeks which just made me buckle down and push even harder and it really paid off. Like any other program you get out of it what you put in to it. If you slack off or dont eat right dont expect a miracle because its will not happen. But if you eat right and follow the workouts pushing yourself to the Max everyday you will have no choice but to get into the best shape of your life. Robert thanks for the support along the way I will definitely stay in touch as I make my way through P90x starting around New Years.

Sounds like we have another exception. :) As I was telling Josh above, I still wouldn't recommend it for beginners. But I am getting reports from beginner's tackling Insanity and doing well. Which I think is awesome. :) Cindy, on the weight, have you lost any weight? You mentioned being 20 lbs overweight. How is your overall nutrition? Are you at a calorie deficit to help lose some lbs? Keep up the good work!

I started Insanity without a previous program, as well. The MAX workouts are tough, but not so much I feel like I can't do them or that I struggle. Boredom is a bigger issue with me (and I'm only just done with month2 week2) as the workouts use similar moves. The plyo is a bit tough on my knees, but as I'm almost done with Insanity it won't slow me down. Granted I wasn't in terrible shape before Insanity, but I was (and still am) 20 lbs overweight and only 5'4".
It seems to me a lot of people are trying to talk other people out of doing Insanity, claiming it's 'too hard' and 'not for beginners'. I'm not saying that everyone should or can do insanity, but it isn't as elite a program as it's being billed as.

Hey Josh, please do keep me posted! The MAX workouts are TOUGH. Normally I don't recommend Insanity for beginners, but there is an exception, those that are determined, have their mind right, and are a little bit crazy. :) You can do it!
