This Focus T25 Review is for Dynamic Core and Upper Focus. Both workouts (in my opinion) make a nice addition to the Beta Phase workouts. Dynamic Core slows it down with a nice ab routine, and Upper Focus ramps it back up with a great weight routine. If this is your first Focus T25 Review here at Extremely-Fit, be sure to read our other reviews on Focus T25. You can find the links down at the bottom of this post, or there are many links to the right for Focus T25 and many other programs.
Equipment Needed for the Focus T25 Dynamic Core:
Depending on your floor surface, or personal preference, possibly a yoga mat or a floor mat. That’s all!
Equipment Needed for the Focus T25 Upper Focus:
Dumbbells or resistance bands. Now, I’m going to make a personal recommendation. I have PowerBlocks and I love them! Here’s why, you can quickly change weights (and Shaun T doesn’s slow down for anyone!) and they are super durable. I invested in a set in 2006, and they are still like new. Check PowerBlocks out here.
What I enjoyed about Focus T25 Dynamic Core:
I can’t stand a “traditional” ab routine. You know… endless crunches from various positions. Ugh! This workout starts out with a cardio warm-up, then you do various “core” exercises from both standing and lying positions. This is a slower pace than the other Beta workouts. So focus on your core, and work those ABS!
What I enjoyed about Focus T25 Upper Focus:
I absolutely enjoy having weights in Shaun T’s Focus T25 program. As good as Insanity is, weights or the lack of, were in my opinion the “missing link”. This weight workout really flies too. From weights, to burpees, push-ups, to high rep moves, you get the full benefit of a great weighted workout routine with Upper Focus!
If you are a Focus T25 Beginner:
Watch Tania, she’s always on the front right when facing the television. Another great improvement to Focus T25 over Insanity, was the addition of a “dedicated” person to watch for modifiers. Sure its great to have the trainer explain various modifications, but to have one person to focus on when working out, makes it super nice.
If you are a Insanity/Asylum graduate:
My advice to those wanting to use this as a advanced workout… have the right weight. Just because they use the same set of weights on the television, does NOT mean you can’t switch out your weights. So keep some extra weights close by and swap out, push your limits with proper form.
Last thing about Focus T25 Upper Focus and Focus T25 Dynamic Core:
Nutrition, nutrition, nutrition. This is so important. Shaun T can’t hover beside you every day and watch everything you eat. You have a great food guide, and a recommendation for number of calories. So you have a great place to start. I PROMISE you, if you will eat a clean diet, push play on Focus T25, you WILL get great results. If, you’re not seeing results, it can only be one of a few things. 1) You’re not eating as clean as you should be, or 2) Your eating too much food (yes you can eat too much clean food). 3) Last of all, how hard you push yourself when you workout. Always do your best, and push yourself to the next level. If you don’t push yourself into that “uncomfortable” area, you may not get the results you want. Only you can make this happen, so go get it!
